Tractors Malaysia Aims to Capture Small Excavator Market in Sarawak
Sibu, 8 July 2014 – Tractors Malaysia, Sime Darby’s Caterpillar Dealership, launched the new CAT 313D2 Low Ground Pressure (LGP) model, which is expected to give the dealership a significant edge over competitors in the forestry and agriculture sectors especially in Sarawak.
Commenting on the market opportunities for the new CAT 313D2 LGP, Chong Kwea Seng, Managing Director of Tractors Malaysia said, “The market for small hydraulic excavators machine is approximately 400 units nationwide with 80-90% concentration in East Malaysia; one of the key battlefields to win the war for this product segment is Sarawak”.
“In Sarawak, the forestry, agriculture, mining and aggregates sectors have been significant contributors to our bottomline. With the introduction of the CAT 313D2 LGP model, we aim to fortify the Caterpillar brand presence in Sarawak, especially in the construction, infrastructure and plantation sectors,” added Mr Chong.
“The Cat 313D2 LGP sports a heavy duty, high and wide undercarriage designed to withstand the toughest environments inherent to the forestry and agriculture sectors. Running on a proven and reliable mechanical Tier 2 engine, the model promises exceptional fuel consumption and reliability,” explained Mr Chong.
The launch was held at the University Campus of Technology Sarawak (UCTS) campus where a Caterpillar outdoor exhibition featuring the CAT 527, CAT 320D, CAT320D with an attached Wincher are on display. The heavy equipment exhibit is to highlight the various applications available in the market especially for the forestry and agriculture sectors.
