Partnership part of growth into materials handling business

Sime Darby Industrial Sdn Bhd (SDISB) today announced that its subsidiary, Sime Darby Material Handling Sdn Bhd (SDMH) (formerly known as Tractors Material Handing Sdn Bhd) has entered into an agreement with leading global lift truck manufacturer - Hyster-Yale Group, Inc., as the exclusive Hyster® dealer in Malaysia and Brunei.

Hyster-Yale Group is a global leader in the materials handling industry with manufacturing facilities, service and product development centres on five continents around the world, specialising in all aspects of materials handling, including storage management, telematics, and process consulting, among others.

SDISB Managing Director CK Teoh said the new dealership would expand SDISB’s product offerings in the materials handling market.

“There is great potential for growth in the materials handling space beyond diesel lift trucks, and with Hyster’s broad range of product offering, we will be able to grow the business further to better serve our customers with an expanded range of products.

“SDMH will also place greater emphasis on penetrating the market and garner new customers through the other materials handling services provided by Hyster,” Teoh said.

Hyster-Yale Group Asia-Pacific Managing Director, Mr Tony Fagg, says the vast experience SDMH has in lift trucks and industrial products sets a strong foundation for a successful long-term relationship.

“SDMH’s local expertise with the support of global Hyster-Yale resources will meet all the materials handling needs of our customers.

“SDMH will deliver a comprehensive, structured and responsive sales approach to support retail, fleet and global account customers. Their expansive industrial service organisation extends the quality and service standards that Hyster customers expect from a trusted global brand in the materials handling market,” Fagg added.

In conjunction with the new dealership, SDMH has terminated with effect from end December 2019, its dealership agreement with Mitsubishi Logisnext Asia Pacific Ltd (MLAP) which distributes the CAT Lift Truck brand in the region.

Nevertheless, Teoh assures that SDMH remains committed to serving its existing CAT Lift Truck customers and fleet as per existing contracts, delivering the best aftermarket sales, parts and product support services.

Gough Group Limited, which was recently acquired by Sime Darby Industrial is also a Hyster dealer in New Zealand.
